May 2017: "Nesting Material For Birds"; Deb Murray;
"Spring Perennials"; E.Fisher
Twenty-some members enjoyed a 'make and take', a mini competition, and a discussion about spring blooming perennials. Of course, we ended up enjoying some delicious refreshments. Thanks to Deborah Murray for all of her work putting together the materials for our 'bird baskets' which we filled with things like bull rush fuzz, straw, string, dog hair (thanks ZAmy Lee Matthews), moss, etc. Thanks to those members who brought in spring garden flowers for the competitions. Following are some photos from the evening. (E. Fisher)
April 2017: "What's New At Aidie Creek Gardens?"; C A Field
March 2017: "Building Bee and Bird Houses"; Bill Smith
What a great meeting we enjoyed this evening!
About 30 people, from as far away as Timmins and Latchford showed up to listen to speaker Bill Smith talk about a variety of insect life that we depend on as pollinators.
He had samples of different insects as well as of the types of homes they make for their young.
After his talk those who choose to made their own mason bee home. What a lot of fun we had.
Bill also donated a wonderful bat house to the Society.
Many thanks to Bill Smith for a great evening, to Claudette Black as hostess, and to all who came out tonight.
