2021 Report:
After a very successful launch ten years ago, the Society website's popularity had continued to grow over the previous eight years. However, throughout 2020 and 2021, although the website has continued to be supported and consulted, the traffic to our website has shown a dramatic decline mainly as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic! With most activities and no monthly meetings taking place, many people probably had little need to check on the activities and proceedings of the Society. The website was updated monthly with whatever activities were held virtually or on Facebook and with monthly Newsletters, while meeting dates, speakers, pictures and society information had little need to be updated from January until December. The amount of time that this webmaster has had to spend on updating the website has dramatically decreased, but, as usual when there is more content to be added to our website, I have continued to add folders and sub-folders to keep the website organized and manageable.
The number of unique visitors has been recorded since the beginning of each year. However, Weebly decided two years ago to change its reporting techniques to more closely coincide with Google’s method of reporting statistics. The result is that we can no longer compare our unique visitors and page views with previous years except from 2020 forward! Thus, for 2021, our second stable year, all I can report is that the website had approximately 386 unique visitors, averaging approximately 32 visitors per month. This number of visitors is down from the 598 that visited our website in 2020. Most notably, the number of visitors has dramatically declined in the most recent months of 2021. Hopefully, these numbers will increase during 2022 when and if we are able to restart monthly meetings and activities.
I would welcome contributions to the website in the form of reports, write-ups, photographs, etc. Although recent traffic to our website has decreased in the past year, let's hope for continued interest in 2022 for what our Society has to offer and that we continue to remain relevant!
