October 2018: "Pumpkins Galore!": E. Fisher, B. Warner: "Youth Garden Competition Presentations!
Congratulations to all of our Youth Gardeners....In the grades 1-3 classes were !st: Makayla MacPherson, 2nd: Kyra Shearing, and Sophia Crooker 3rd: Rayna Lamb Charlton. In the grades 4-8 classes, 1st went to Aaron Mowbray, 2nd was won by Aiden MacPherson and 3rd prize went to Ziggy Goddard and Karly Lamb Charlton. Well done all of you. It was lovely to have most of our gardeners at our October 17th meeting where they received their awards and certificates. (Young Alistair received a special certificate as he was under-aged but very keen!)

Members enjoyed a wonderful display of local gardens on Wednesday, August 15th in the evening. The tour started out at the Fishers, moved on to Nina and John Wallace’s yard, then to the Community Gardens inspired by Ashley Fehr and the Girl Guides. We ended the tour at the lovely gardens of Bonnie Warner and her neighbours Dalton and Claudette Black.
The group got together at the Presbyterian Church after for a delicious snack. Many thanks to all who worked hard to make their gardens so lovely and welcoming to us and to Marg McMurray and Ruth Webb for being the hostesses for the evening.

Evelyne and her children led the demonstration and discussion of making paper pots to start seeds and seedlings.
February 2018: "Wild About Nature"; Photography with Sue Nielsen
A special guest was at our meeting on Feb. 21...Sue Nielsen, a very talented photographer, speaking to us on the theme "Wild About Nature!"...hints on Improving our shots of Mother Nature's beauties. We also had a mini competition at this meeting. Members were able to enter 1 photo (4"x6") per class. Photos were to be mounted on white Bristol board or paper (5x7), with a tag attached. Tags were available at the meeting.
Classes were:
1. For the Birds: a photo of a bird/birds
2. Going Buggy: a shot of an insect/insects
3. Floral Fantasy: a picture of a single bloom or flower head
4. The Wonders of Water: water in any form.
